Sutherland Dragonfly-Moy Sutherland Dragonfly Pipe

Moy Sutherland is a great artist. He was born on January 4, 1974 in Port Alberni and comes from the Nuu-chah-nulth territories on the Vancouver Island. Nuu-chah-nulth means all along the mountains. Sutherlands native name is Hiish-Miik which means someone who gets what ever he wants. He started his career as an artist in 1955 in Alert Bay. Sutherland learned the principles of art and craving from Kwakiutl artist Joe Wilson. After learning the basic techniques, Sutherland took training from Mark Mickey and Ron Hamilton and learned about the Nuu-chah-nulth style.
